MINNEAPOLIS, February 23, 2005 – Capella University, an accredited online university headquartered in Minneapolis, announced today it is partnering with higher education consulting firm Noel-Levitz to create a master's degree specialization in enrollment management. Available through the university's School of Education, the new specialization is designed to help graduate students develop and refine their knowledge of key enrollment-related principles and practices for higher-education leadership.

"In today's increasingly competitive higher-education environment, colleges and universities are placing greater emphasis on student retention, graduation rates, and recruitment — key elements of enrollment management," said Michael J. Offerman, president and CEO, Capella University. "By combining the expertise of Noel-Levitz with Capella University's education curriculum, we can provide current and aspiring higher education leaders with a program to help maximize their enrollment management skills."

In an environment of shifting enrollment patterns driven by demographic and generational changes nationwide, higher education leaders face increasing pressure to improve graduation rates, particularly as tuition continues to rise and students take longer to graduate. Capella University's enrollment management courses use Noel-Levitz's proprietary technology and statistical methodologies to help institutional leaders understand enrollment and retention patterns and create appropriate institutional strategies.

"Learning the latest in enrollment management skills and strategies to attract and retain students can help strengthen the ability of key leaders at today's colleges and universities," said Kevin Crockett, president and CEO, Noel-Levitz. "Armed with such insight, higher education professionals can better meet enrollment and accountability demands, resulting in effective and efficiently run universities."

With specialized course content based on the expertise of Noel-Levitz professionals, the new Capella University master's degree specialization provides graduates with the latest tools and strategies for enrollment management. Applicable immediately to real-world professional demands, the curriculum focuses on effective enrollment management, student retention, marketing strategies, technology applications and strategic enrollment planning.

Capella University's new enrollment management courses will open to Capella University students in July 2005 and be taught by expert course instructors mutually selected by Noel-Levitz and Capella University. Capella University students will also have the opportunity to attend Noel-Levitz seminars at various locations nationwide, complementing the university's online course format.

Successful graduates from Capella University master's specialization in enrollment management will also earn a Certification in Enrollment Management — a professional certificate issued by Noel-Levitz.
