Minneapolis, March 7, 2006 — Dr. Robert Garrett Rodriguez, a PhD graduate of Capella University's School of Human Services, has authored a book that investigates the similarities and differences between expectant mothers and fathers. “What's Your Pregnant Man Thinking?: A Roadmap For Expectant & New Mothers” is a guide for moms and moms-to-be as they navigate the physical and behavioral changes that occur with men before, during and after a pregnancy. Dr. Rodriguez is a 2004 graduate of Capella University , an education leader and accredited online university that pioneered online education.

“What’s Your Pregnant Man Thinking?” offers advice on how couples can make their experience together more endearing and enduring. Specifically, the book offers well-researched methods for bringing couples together, such as developing realistic expectations with your partner during pregnancy and techniques for making communication easier.

The first half of the book analyzes how and why a man's behavior changes, while the second half offers ways to strengthen a relationship during pregnancy and after the birth. Full of practical exercises for couples, the book addresses topics such as what men think about during the nine months of pregnancy; why some men lose themselves in work, old friends, or hobbies when they are needed most; and how couples can make the pregnant relationship a cornerstone of their marriages.

“After studying the behavior of expectant fathers and couples for more than 25 years, I have heard all the dreams, confessions and challenges of expectant fathers during pregnancy,” Dr. Rodriguez says. “In this book, I explain how mutual understanding of these issues can propel couples through this demanding time and into a loving, lasting relationship.”

Dr. Rodriguez's next book, “Grandparents and Grey Hair,” is expected to be published this summer. It describes the physical and behavioral changes that occur in couples when they learn that they will be grandparents.

Dr. Rodriguez is the CEO and Consulting Director for Health Care Business Associates, LLC (http://www.hcba.info/).
